K'inādās is the Tahltan word for walking on the land. The image below was taken by James Teit, in 1910. It is the Tahltan river as it turns to meet the Stikine River. Right by the river bridge, there are four community smoke houses that have been in consistent use by Tahltan community members for the harvesting/preparation of salmon for winter. Two of the four smoke houses are still in use today. One of them belongs to Peter’s Great Grandmother Louise.
